General principle

Use Ask Philos as a reflective aid, not as an authority over your life, faith, relationships, health, safety, or conscience. Treat AI guidance as something to consider, not something to obey.

AI can be wrong

Philos can misunderstand context, miss nuance, or provide inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, or poorly fitted guidance. It may not recognize risk, crisis, abuse, coercion, or spiritual distress correctly.

Crisis and emergencies

If you may harm yourself or someone else, feel unsafe, are experiencing abuse or coercion, or need immediate help, contact local emergency services now. In the United States, you can call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Outside the United States, contact your local emergency number or a local crisis support service.

Trusted people matter

For grief, abuse, coercion, spiritual distress, mental health concerns, conflict, or major life decisions, consider reaching out to a trusted person, trusted clergy member, licensed counselor, spiritual director, qualified professional, or community leader.

Spiritual sensitivity

Ask Philos is interfaith and may discuss many traditions. AI may get religious details wrong or miss the lived meaning of a practice. When doctrine, ritual, community obligations, or conscience are involved, consult trusted people within the relevant tradition.

Children and families

Families should supervise minors' use of AI tools, spiritual content, and supportive reflection features. Ask Philos should not be used to isolate children from parents, guardians, caregivers, or appropriate support systems.

Memory and privacy

Memory is intended to be user-approved. Philos should not silently remember new personal details without your action or consent. Be careful before sending private journal or memory content into an AI conversation.

Report concerns

Report harmful outputs, suspected misuse, unlawful conduct, safety concerns, or spiritual sensitivity concerns to support. We may review reports and take reasonable action to protect users and the service.

Use with care

Do not use Ask Philos to justify harm, control another person, avoid needed care, or make urgent decisions in isolation. If a response feels harmful, extreme, shaming, or unsafe, stop using it and seek human help.

Website scope

The public website does not provide public web AI, web login, a dashboard, payments, or anonymous companion chat. Safety concerns about the native app should be sent to support.

Tell us about safety issues.
