Version 1
Terms of Service
Last updated: June 29, 2026
1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and GenRev Media ("GenRev Media," "we," "our," or "us") governing your access to and use of Ask Philos, including the native app, askphilos.com, askphilos.app, support channels, and related services.
By accessing, registering for, or using Ask Philos in any manner, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use Ask Philos.
2. What Ask Philos provides
Ask Philos is a native app-first interfaith spiritual AI companion for reflection, prayer, journaling, supportive reflective guidance, and exploration of scripture, sacred texts, and wisdom traditions. The companion persona is Philos.
The public website provides marketing, legal, safety, support, and app download information. It does not provide public web AI, web login, a dashboard, payments, or anonymous companion chat. The native app requires account sign-in for AI features, and anonymous AI usage is not offered.
3. Accounts and security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity under your account. Contact support promptly if you believe your account has been compromised or used without authorization.
You agree to provide accurate information where required and to use Ask Philos only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms and applicable laws.
4. AI guidance and spiritual boundaries
AI responses may be incomplete, incorrect, outdated, biased, or not appropriate for your circumstances. Philos may help you explore questions, prayers, spiritual practices, scripture, wisdom literature, and personal reflections, but AI cannot fully know your life, community, tradition, conscience, intentions, or safety needs.
Ask Philos is provided for reflection and informational support only. You are responsible for your decisions and for evaluating any guidance before relying on it.
5. Not professional, clergy, or emergency support
Ask Philos does not replace professional, medical, legal, mental health, emergency, clergy, pastoral, spiritual direction, financial, or other qualified advice. It is not therapy, medical care, legal counsel, emergency services, or a substitute for your faith community or trusted spiritual leaders.
If you may harm yourself or someone else, feel unsafe, are experiencing abuse or coercion, or need urgent help, contact emergency services, crisis support, a trusted person, or an appropriate professional immediately. Ask Philos is not designed or guaranteed to detect or respond to emergencies.
6. Journal, reflection, and Memory features
Journal and Memory features are designed to support personal reflection. Journal and Memory data is currently intended to be stored privately on your device or in local app storage unless and until cloud sync is expressly implemented.
Memory is intended to be user-approved; Philos should not silently remember new personal details without your action or consent. You are responsible for what you save, delete, or choose to share with AI features.
7. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct
You agree to use Ask Philos lawfully and respectfully. You may not use Ask Philos to submit, generate, request, encourage, or distribute unlawful, harmful, exploitative, deceptive, or infringing content or activity.
Prohibited conduct includes harassment, threats, doxxing, exploitation of minors, sexual or exploitative content involving minors, trafficking, terrorism or violent extremism, fraud, scams, impersonation, unauthorized access, attempts to bypass safety or usage limits, reverse engineering protected systems, interference with the service, infringement of intellectual property or privacy rights, and use of Ask Philos to justify or plan harm to yourself or others.
You are responsible for the content you submit and for making sure you have the right to share it.
8. Reporting harmful activity
Please report harmful outputs, safety concerns, unlawful activity, account compromise, or suspected misuse to support@askphilos.com. We may take reasonable measures to investigate reports and may refer matters to service providers, regulators, law enforcement, or emergency contacts where appropriate and lawful.
9. Service providers and AI systems
Ask Philos relies on third-party providers and infrastructure, including Supabase for app backend services, OpenAI or other AI model providers for AI responses, Cloudflare for website hosting, and app store or subscription providers if premium features are offered. Provider outages, model changes, policy changes, or infrastructure issues may affect availability or behavior.
10. Subscriptions and premium features
Premium or subscription features are not fully launched yet. If premium options are offered later, they may provide expanded usage or additional features. Pricing, billing terms, cancellation options, refund paths, and platform-specific details will be shown before purchase where applicable, usually through the app store or subscription provider managing the purchase.
11. Third-party terms
Ask Philos relies on third-party service providers to operate parts of the service. Those providers may have their own terms, privacy policies, and operating rules that apply to their services. Your relationship with an app store, device platform, or subscription provider may also be governed by that provider's terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, policy changes, or processing outside our control.
12. Intellectual property
Ask Philos, Philos, the website, app design, branding, software, text, visual assets, and related materials are owned by GenRev Media or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or exploit any part of Ask Philos except as allowed by these Terms or with written permission.
You retain responsibility for content you submit. You grant us the rights needed to process, transmit, store, display, and use your submitted content as necessary to provide, protect, troubleshoot, secure, and maintain Ask Philos.
13. Enforcement, suspension, and termination
We are not obligated to monitor every interaction, but we may review, restrict, suspend, remove, or terminate any account, content, feature access, or activity at any time if we believe it violates these Terms, creates risk, causes harm, interferes with the service, or may expose Ask Philos, users, service providers, or the public to liability or abuse.
We may cooperate with lawful requests from courts, regulators, law enforcement, emergency responders, app stores, and service providers.
14. Service changes and availability
We may amend, modify, update, suspend, or discontinue Ask Philos or any feature at any time. We may also impose or adjust usage limits, eligibility requirements, safety controls, or technical restrictions.
Ask Philos may be interrupted, unavailable, delayed, or changed because of maintenance, provider outages, model behavior, app store requirements, security events, or other operational reasons.
15. Disclaimers
Ask Philos is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that Ask Philos will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, accurate, complete, suitable for your circumstances, or available in every location.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, usefulness, safety, theological correctness, pastoral suitability, or emotional appropriateness of AI responses. You use Ask Philos at your own risk.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GenRev Media and its affiliates, service providers, officers, employees, agents, successors, and assigns will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, service interruption, or reliance on AI responses.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some limits may not apply to you.
17. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GenRev Media and its affiliates, service providers, officers, employees, agents, successors, and assigns from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your misuse of Ask Philos, your submitted content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.
18. Electronic communications and notices
You consent to receive communications, notices, disclosures, and records electronically, including by email, in-app message, support reply, or posting on the website. Notices to GenRev Media may be sent to support@askphilos.com unless a more specific legal notice address is published later.
19. Restricted jurisdictions and export controls
You may not use Ask Philos where doing so would violate applicable law, export controls, sanctions, embargoes, or restricted-party rules. We may restrict or terminate access where required or appropriate for legal, security, provider, or compliance reasons.
20. Severability and survival
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, enforcement, and privacy-related provisions, will survive.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted unless a later date is stated. Continued use of Ask Philos after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using Ask Philos.
22. Contact
